Ellen Pompeo doesn't know what's left for Grey's Anatomy years later! The actress who stars as "Meredith Grey" in the hit medical drama has made no secret of wanting to be done with the show, but now it seems that she is actively having conversations about it.
Pompeo has questioned direction of Grey's Anatomy
Ellen Pompeo opened up to Insider about where she stands when it comes to the future of Grey's Anatomy. In a new interview, Pompeo told the outlet that she's "been trying to focus on convincing everybody that it should end" and expressed her uncertainty about the show's narrative. However, she has been met with resistance by those in charge.
According to Pompeo, it seems as though the financial success of Grey's Anatomy is a big reason why it has continued on to this day. The show began in 2005 and is currently in the middle of season 18, which began airing in September. Pompeo mentioned that her questions in regards to the series' direction have been dismissed because of how it "makes a gazillion dollars."
Earlier this year, Pompeo commented on how she has "been trying to get away" from her Grey's Anatomy role for some time, suggesting that the network has "incentivized" her to stay. Given the show's ongoing success, it seems unlikely the end is in sight. Hopefully when it does eventually wrap up though, it will be with a conclusion that feels satisfying for "Meredith" and fans alike after all these years!
