'Grey's Anatomy': The Most Beautiful Couples On The Series

Grey's Anatomy is known not just for its intense storylines, but also for the romances that develop between its characters. Over the years, the hit medical drama has featured many different pairings. While some were short-lived flings, there were relationships that ended in tragedy, and others that have stood the test of time.

"Meredith" and "Derek" remain one of Grey's Anatomy's most iconic couples! Given the relationship nickname "MerDer" by fans, their love story sadly had a tragic ending when "Derek" was killed in a fatal car crash in season 11. However, "Meredith" saw visions of her former lover as she experienced coronavirus-induced hallucinations in season 17, suggesting that while "Derek" might be dead, their love will never be.

"Owen" and "Cristina's" relationship started out beautifully, but certainly had its highs and lows over the years! The two doctors first made things romantic in season 5, and married in season 7. Even after "Owen" cheated on "Cristina," and the couple remained in love, lasting until "Cristina" moved to Switzerland for work.

"Derek" and "Addison" begin their relationship as medical school sweethearts, with a love that deepened over the years. However, "Derek" ended up cheating on "Addison" when he met "Meredith," which led to the seemingly perfect couple getting a divorce after attempting to make things work.

"Cristina" and "Preston's" relationship was messy and bittersweet, but beautiful nonetheless! Despite their ideological clashes, and several other tense moments that arose during their relationship, "Preston" asked "Cristina" to marry him. While they never actually tied the knot, "Preston" ended up helping "Cristina" advance her career instead.

"Owen" and "Amelia" first got together in season 11 of Grey's Anatomy, and their relationship lasted for some time! The following season saw them get married, with "Amelia's" brother "Derek's" death bringing the two even closer together. Ultimately though, "Amelia" didn't want children while "Owen" did, which led to their romance not working out. 

"Lexie" and "Mark's" relationship— known as "Slexie" by fans— is one of the most passionate and devastating romances of Grey's Anatomy. After getting together in season 5, the two secretly date for a while, having an on-again-off-again relationship. While both of them still had deep feelings for each other in the end, a plane crash at the end of season 8 tragically kills both "Lexie" and "Mark".

"Atticus"— who goes by the nickname "Link"— and "Amelia" made their relationship official in season 15, and later had a son named "Scout" together. However, the show's season 17 finale saw "Amelia" turn down "Link's" beach proposal, leaving questions about what comes next for the pair.

"Callie" and "George's" relationship started as something casual, but quickly became more committed! Season 3 sees the two end up getting hitched by having a Vegas wedding. However, "George" later cheats on his wife, which leads the two to amicably divorce in season 6.

"Callie" and "Arizona" are easily one of the fan-favourite couples to come from Grey's Anatomy! Nicknamed "Calzona," the chemistry between the two was evident from the start, and they ended up getting married in season 7. While they stayed together for several seasons and even shared custody of a child, much to fans' dismay, the pair later chose to separate.
