As with many other series, the filming of Grey's Anatomy was slowed down by the coronavirus. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, almost all Hollywood productions had to pause, which is why there were some delays in the shooting of the 17th season. But it was worth waiting for. After the first pictures from the set were shown, the new trailer is finally here and it promises pure drama and excitement.
In addition to the release of the teaser trailer, a start date has also been announced: November 12th, 2020. On this day, after the long wait, Grey's Anatomy fans should not only be comforted with the 17th season but with a big special: A crossover of the medical drama with Station 19 to introduce the new season.
Grey's Anatomy: 17th season teaser trailer drama
The 15-second trailer reveals little about what exactly will happen in the new season, but one storyline stands out. "Teddy", who was last in a love triangle between "Tom" and "Owen", confesses to "Owen" her love. Will there still be a happy ending between the two? After all, she cheated on her fiancé with "Tom" just before the wedding.
In addition to the personal drama, the showrunners confirmed some time ago that the 17th season will also deal with a more serious topic: COVID-19.
In order to draw attention to the highly sensitive and important topic, American actress Ellen Pompeo revealed on Instagram that the pandemic will also be picked up during the season. "I dedicate my season 17 to all who have fallen and to everyone of you who by the grace of God is still standing... this season is for you with humility and a bit of humor to get us through and endless amounts of gratitude," wrote the 50-year-old leading actress.
Which storylines will be solved in the new season and how exactly the coronavirus pandemic will be addressed in the episodes remains to be seen. Until then, fans will have to wait just a little bit longer.
