HBO Max has handed a series order to Grease: Rydell High, a musical television spin-off series of the legendary 1978 film Grease! The upcoming show will also be set in the 1950's and will reportedly feature some of the characters we already know.
The upcoming series will depict how students struggle with high school life while living in middle America. Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max head of content, revealed that Grease: Rydell High will be as energetic and exciting as the original film, featuring musical numbers including iconic songs from the 1950's. "This is high school and life in small-town USA told on the scale of a big rock ‘n’ roll musical," she said.
Grease is considered to be one of the greatest movies of all time
Starring John Travolta as "Danny" and Olivia Newton-John as "Sandy," Grease became an iconic pop-culture phenomenon and was the highest-grossing live-action musical of all time before the Disney reboots of Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King. In the United States, its soundtrack sold more than 8 million copies.
When will Grease: Rydell High be released? Who will be the cast members? Those details are still a mystery but we will definitely keep you posted!
