'Euphoria' Cast

The Euphoria cast consists of an incredibly diverse group of young actors! While many of them are up and coming stars of Hollywood, others have been in the game for quite some time. 

Take a look at the HBO cast in real-life, and how they worked their way up to an Emmy-winning series! 

The star of the series is "Rue" played by Emmy-winning Zendaya! "Rue", the narrator and protagonist of Euphoria, struggles with drugs, anxiety disorders and her overall identity. 

Not only can you catch Zendaya in the second season of Euphoria, but also in the upcoming movies Dune and Malcolm & Marie. As she starred in 2019's Spider-Man: Far from Home as "MJ", she'll be returning for its 2021 sequel. 

Trans-model and actor Hunter Schafer plays the role of "Jules" in Euphoria. "Jules" deals with her gender identity as she undergoes transitioning, which causes a major rift between her and her mother. She is BFF's with "Rue" in the series... up until *spoiler* the final episode of season one. 

Outside of Euphoria, Hunter has modeled for major brands like Dior, Tommy Hilfiger and Coach. This is her first acting gig, and we'd say she killed it in her performance! She also worked alongside director Sam Levinson to incorporate her real-life experiences into the show. 

Newcomer actor Angus Cloud has made an impression in Hollywood. His character "Fez" is a lovable, empathetic drug dealer... a combination of words you may not expect to hear. He also plays the older brother type of figure for "Rue". 

Angus was actually spotted by a casting director in the streets of New York. When she approached him and asked him to audition, naturally he thought it couldn't be true. Today, Angus is a rising star, where you can see him in 2020's North Hollywood, as well as the upcoming war movie The Things They Carried opposite Tom Hardy and Bill Skarsgård. 

The unexpected drug dealer of the Euphoria is "Ashtray", played by 15-year old Javon Walton. Meanwhile, his best friend and associate who handles most of the dealing is "Fez". Javon's real career will surprise you! He's a professional boxer and gymnast. He even has plans to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. In his acting career, Javon is also starring in Amazon Prime's Utopia.

The newly-rebellious, yet rather introverted "Kat" is portrayed by actress Barbie Ferreira. "Kat" is re-inventing herself from a self-conscious teen to an actual dominatrix throughout the series, after her boyfriend breaks up with her and a sexual video of herself is put online. 

Barbie in real-life is a Brazilian-American model and actress, who was raised by her mom, aunt and grandmother. She's modeled for Forever 21, H&M, and Adidas. You can also check her out in her latest film, HBO's Unpregnant (2020).

Sydney Sweeney plays the character "Cassie", who has a sexual history that makes it hard for her to develop real relationships. Yet, she finds comfort in her football-star beau "Chris McKay" (Algee Smith). Of course, they endure their own issues in their relationship throughout the series. Sydney is actually a 24-year old actress who had worked in the Netflix series Everything Sucks! (2018) and Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale (201) prior to Euphoria. Her most recent film released was in October 2020 for the thriller Nocturne, and next will be the erotic thriller The Voyeurs.

Algee Smith plays football superstar "Chris McKay" of Euphoria's East Highland High School. As he transitions from high school to college, he realizes he actually isn't the best at what he does, causing a rift in his relationship with "Cassie".The 27-year old Algee today has quite the list of films he's currently working on! You can catch him out next in Judas and the Black Messiah, Young Wild Free, and Mother/Android.

Australian hunk Jacob Elordi is anything but in Euphoria. His character "Nate" is a football player who is never deemed good enough for his father, thus, he takes out his anger and violence towards his girlfriend "Maddy", often abusing her. Unfortunately, the two maintain a toxic relationship throughout the series. You may also recognize Elordi from the Netflix film series The Kissing Booth and its two sequels. As well as Deep Water, where he stars opposite Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.

Alexa Demie portrays "Maddy", who is "Nate's" on-and-off again girlfriend. A confident and often promiscuous girl, "Maddy" is constantly trying to deal with her boyfriend's anger and abuse issues. In real-life, 30-year old Maddy was born in Los Angeles to mother Rose Mendez, a make-up artist from Mexico, and father Scott Wilson, step-son of Beach Boys member Dennis Wilson. She's rising to fame, having been in films Waves (2019) and Gia Coppola's Mainstream (2020). Alexa is also a singer!
