A new film about Elvis Presley has been in the works for some time. Now, fans can finally have a first look. Director Baz Luhrmann shared a short teaser for the biopic on Twitter with star Austin Butler portraying "The King."
First trailer for new Elvis film with Austin Butler
The teaser for Elvis is only about 20 seconds long. The glimpse of Butler is also brief: his face is only seen momentarily from one side. Once in a leather jacket and once in a white suit, the actor looks to have the music legend's style down.
The characters move in slow motion to an altered version of "Suspicious Minds." At the end of the trailer you can read the abbreviation TCB, which stands for "Taking Care of Business." This was considered Elvis's motto. From 1969 on, he also called his band TCB, a good indication of the film's time period.
Baz Luhrmann, director of Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby, has already announced a premiere date. The film is expected to be released in the US in June 2022. So fans have to be patient a little longer.
The trailer looks promising and Austin Butler seems to cut a pretty good figure as Elvis. Most recently he was featured in the Tarantino flick Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The cast of the Elvis film will also feature Hollywood star Tom Hanks as Presley's manager Tom Parker and Australian actress Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley.
