- 'DWTS' is on Season 32
- This season is full of big stars
- THESE names have already left the show
'Dancing with the Stars' is back for season 32! The hit competition series returned to ABC on Sept. 26, with Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough joining forces as cohosts. As always, the new season brings together some big names in television, film, music and sports. Once the show moved to Disney+ many fans worried that the show's popularity would wane, but fans are still tuning in to watch.
These stars have already said goodbye to the cast. Britney's Spears little sister Jamie Lynn Spears was making her big debut on 'DWTS' this season and many thought she could go all the way. But much to the chagrin of many, Jamie did not even go a few episodes in and was eliminated in Week 2. Jamie Lynn's nixing certainly came as a shock to the judges, who gave her a 16 out of 30 for their cha-cha routine.
The show's eliminations are always brutal
But before that, actor Matt Walsh was unceremoniously booted from the show in Season 1. "After a tough night on TV, it’s always nice to come home to family. Thanks for the love everyone!," Matt posted on his Instagram page. Walsh’s partner, Koko Iwasaki, addressed the elimination via her own Instagram Story, writing, "I am SO proud of Matt and so proud of how he danced tonight with some real chacha steps. He is a joy of a human, a true student and I would have him as a partner every season if I could."
Other big stars remain on the show and are looking to get their hands on the coveted Mirror Ball trophy.
Also interesting:
One of the show's favorites is reality star Charity Lawson who has already wowed the judges with her progress. Many fans also have a sweet spot for actress Alyson Hannigan who is holding her own quite well. Oscar winner Mira Sorvino has seen average scores so far, but is showing great improvement.
The judges gave great reviews to stars like actress Xochitl Gomez and model Tyson Beckford. The show has favored reality and social stars quite a lot this year, and some are wondering if it's a sign of the times, as only a few A-listers are on the cast now.
According to an article by 'The Wrap' this year, "'DWTS' [viewership] has plummeted from season 1 heights — with a 5.1 rating… and 16.79 million average total viewers — to a 0.74 rating and 4.89 million total viewers for season 31."
The show is back on network television now, so be sure to catch 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 32 this fall on ABC.
