The COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt plans in the entertainment world. Dating back to March, Disney and Marvel were among the producers forced to delay release dates of their films.
Initially set for fall releases, these films were rumoured to possibly face additional postponements. That's now become a reality, as Disney has confirmed several new premiere dates in 2021.
Black Widow gets new release date
Headlining the films that will move to next year is Black Widow, the MCU solo vehicle starring Scarlett Johansson. Its new release date is set for May 7, 2021.
Marvel's Eternals release also delayed to late 2021
Disney and Marvel also reported that the film Eternals, with stars including Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie, will be pushed back from its premiere date of Feb. 12, 2021. Instead, fans can take in the long-awaited ensemble superhero film on Nov. 5, 2021.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings also faces a delay, now given an expected theatrical release on July 9 of next year.
Despite this, for now, the Disney-Pixar animated film Soul moves ahead, holding its release date for this Nov. 20 in theatres.
The fans have spoken!
For now, good news/bad news for Disney and Marvel fans. Black Widow, Eternals, and Shang-Chi will hit theatres later than anticipated. But assuming Soul stays with a November release, Disney and Pixar devotees still have something to look forward to in 2020. In case you missed it, you can watch the trailer for Soul here.
