According to the film company Lionsgate, the sequel to Dirty Dancing is scheduled to hit theatres on February 9, 2024. It was also announced that the now 62-year-old Jennifer Grey will return as "Baby" for the sequel...

35 years have passed since the original Dirty Dancing. Jonathan Levine, who is directing the sequel, is mindful of the movie's legacy and said: "I can't wait to collaborate with Jennifer to bring this beautiful story of summer and romance and dancing to a generation of new fans...

The director continued: "And to the longtime [fans], I promise we will not ruin your childhood. We will tackle the assignment with sophistication, ambition, and, above all, love." So far, the plot of the film has been kept a secret, except for this teaser from the studio: "Jennifer Grey returns to Kellerman's in the next chapter."

The Dirty Dancing sequel will go ahead without Patrick Swayze, who played the dance teacher "Johnny Castle." The character is still expected to be honoured in the movie, but we don't know how just yet. Sadly, Swayze passed away back in 2009.

Anyone who hears "I carried a watermelon" and "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" knows immediately: we're talking about Dirty Dancing. The cult film from 1987 thrilled millions of viewers in the cinema, and it still delights many dance and music fans today.
