Dancing With the Stars was back on ABC last night with the premiere of the 28th season. The show premiered after a year-long hiatus in which they were working on some format tweaks within the show. We will learn more about those tweaks next week... We did however, get to find out the pairings for this season and let's just say the drama started well before the show even went live!
The Professional Pairings for DWTS Season 28
Christie Brinkley fell during rehearsal and broke her arm, needing to get surgery, but luckily her daughter, Sports Illustrated model Sailor Brinkley-Cook stepped in to dance for her mother. Sean Spicer's casting also received some controversy when it was announced, however he is hopeful that the show can just be about dancing and politics can be left at the door.
DWTS: Night One Dances
Hannah Brown and her partner, Alan Bersten danced the Cha-Cha and received a score of 20/30 from the judges, which was a great start to the night and the season for Brown! Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson danced the Tango with a score of 16/30, Kate Flannery and Pasha Pashkov danced the Cha-Cha receiving a score of 15/30 and Lamar Odom danced the Foxtrot with Peta Murgatroyed and got a low score of 11/30.
Sailor Brinkley-Cook Stepped In For Her Mother
Country singer Lauren Alaina was partnered with Greb Savchenko to dance the Cha-Cha and they received a score of 19/30, Sailor Brinkley-Cook took over for her mom with pro dancer Val Chmerkovsky to dance the Foxtrot and the judges gave them a score of 18/30. Karamo Brown danced the Salsa with Jenna Johnson getting a score of 17/30, Ray Lewis partnered with Cheryl Burke for another Salsa and the judges gave them a score of 15/30 and Mary Wilson danced the Foxtrot with Brandon Armstrong receiving a score of 17/30 from the judges.
James Van Der Beek Takes The Highest Score Of The Night
Singer Ally Brooke danced the Cha-Cha with Sasha Farber and they got a score of 16/30, former White House press secretary Sean Spicer was partnered with Lindsay Arnold to dance the Salsa and they got the low score of 12/30 while James Van Der Beek got the score to beat of the night dancing the Tango with Emma Slater and receiving a 21/30 from the judges!
