In the new edition of 'CSI: Vegas', William Petersen played the role of "Dr. Gil Grissom". He had previously appeared in front of the camera for the parent series 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation', but surprisingly dropped out after one season of 'CSI: Vegas'.

'CSI: Vegas' William Petersen: Was he about to burn out?
According to 'Variety' and others, the 'CSI: Vegas' star only signed up for the first season. Although he was no longer seen from the second season onwards, he was involved behind the camera as a producer.
According to 'TMZ', the actor had become so exhausted that he was hospitalized. Petersen had overworked himself too much and was suffering from exhaustion. This could be one of the reasons for his decision to leave the series.
It was very difficult for the 'CSI: Vegas' fans to say goodbye, but they could ultimately understand and respect his decision.
