The Law & Order: SVU spin-off for "Det. Elliot Stabler" appears set to arrive sooner than some may have expected!
Today, NBC announced its fall 2020 TV line-up, and Christopher Meloni's recently confirmed series made the list. Meloni will rejoin the Law & Order universe in his own spin-off, which we now know is titled Law & Order: Organized Crime.
Organized Crime will air Thursday nights at 10 P.M. on NBC in the slot that follows Law & Order: SVU.
Law & Order: SVU: Christopher Meloni returns in 2020
Law & Order fans last saw Meloni's "Det. Stabler" in 2011, when he exited SVU after season 12. But fall 2020 is now set for plenty of Meloni content on NBC Thursdays.

In addition to Organized Crime, the now 59-year-old actor is also slated to appear in an undetermined number of episodes in the upcoming season of SVU. So far, we know that he'll return for at least the season premiere.

Christopher Meloni's new show, Organized Crime, is coming soon
In the original announcement of Organized Crime, it was reported that the series, which will have a 13-episode first season, follows "Stabler" as he "heads up an organized crime division of the New York Police Department."
Filming on the series hasn't begun yet, but it appears that NBC believes its productions will resume soon. Variety reported that NBC "is confident that the return to production is moving along fast enough that it will have its biggest series like 'This Is Us' and new 'Law & Order' spinoff 'Law & Order: Organized Crime' ready for later in the fall," if not precisely for September.
Just today, the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful became the first major U.S. TV program to relaunch production following the COVID-19 pandemic. If NBC's fall line-up report is any indicator, it looks as though it and other networks could soon be following the lead of CBS.
