Chip and Joanna Gaines will be back in the TV home-reno world in 2021!
On Tuesday, the Gaineses announced the return of Fixer Upper, their former hit series on HGTV. After three years off the air, Fixer Upper will be revived in 2021 on Chip and Joanna's Magnolia Network, their forthcoming TV channel.
Fixer Upper: Chip & Joanna Gaines announce a new season!
Chip and Joanna revealed the news of Fixer Upper's return on Instagram. Fans were delighted by the video announcement, which sees Chip drive his unsuspecting wife to a home that's in need of a fix up. "How has it already been 3 years since our last #FixerUpper reveal?" Joanna wrote on the Instagram post.
"I signed us up for another season of Fixer Upper," Chip tells Joanna in the couple's announcement skit. "Can I tell you a little secret? I kind of missed it," Joanna adds. Fans of the home improvement gurus no doubt share Joanna's feelings!
Chip & Joanna are making new Fixer Upper episodes
Fixer Upper aired on HGTV for five seasons between 2013 and 2018. The Texas-based series popularized the couple's "Farmhouse-chic" style, as they renovated and brought new designs to rundown homes.
Though Chip and Joanna moved on from Fixer Upper in 2018, the time is right for a return as they are set to launch Magnolia Network. The TV channel—which shares its name with the couple's popular lifestyle brand—was scheduled to launch in October 2020, but it has been pushed to 2021 due to COVID-19-related delays. When Magnolia Network does arrive, it will take the place of TV's DIY Network.
The addition of a new Fixer Upper season to Magnolia Network only sweetens the deal for fans of Chip and Joanna. The influential couple, who are parents to five children and publish the quarterly Magnolia Journal, launch their must-see TV venture next year.
