It's officially spooky season, and Riverdale producer and creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is here to share the most exciting news just in time for Halloween!
Riverdale is about to start its 6th season, and fans are thrilled to see the crossover, as it has been a rumour for a while that we'd finally get to see "Sabrina Spellman" join in on all the crazy Riverdale High drama!
The Crossover On Everyone's Mind!
It hasn't been hidden all this time that a crossover might happen, as Evan Kyle, Riverdale's writer, teased in a Q&A session for The Dipp. "Sabrina" herself, played by Kiernan Shipka, posted a photo to her Instagram of her on set, dropping a little teaser, but now it's finally official!
"Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honour from Day One," Aguirre-Sacasa said in a statement in July 2020 when the show announced the fourth season would be its last. While fans were disappointed, it's good to know it wasn't the final time we'll see the 21st-century's favourite witch!
In a separate statement this past Thursday with People, Aguirre-Sacasa said, "We've been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since Season one, so it's thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our Riverdale special event."
"It's also perfect that she shows up to help 'Cheryl Blossom' during her hour of greatest need," he added.
The episode, titled "The Witching Hour", is described as a moment of sisterhood between "Cheryl" and "Sabrina".
"'Cheryl' is performing a dangerous spell, one that may mean the difference between life and death for a beloved member of the Blossom family," the episode description reads.
"Luckily, she's getting a much-needed assist from everybody's favourite twenty-something witch, the iconic 'Sabrina Spellman', visiting from Greendale in this years-in-the-making crossover."
"Everyone on set lost their minds — I think fans will, too. It's really fun and special," Aguirre-Sacasa said.
Season 6 will be available to stream on November 15, 2021.
