Ghostbusters: Original Cast Returning For Sequel
Dan Aykroyd also announced that as well as Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts will also make appearances in the sequel which is a follow up to the 1984 original. The son of the original Ghostbusters director, Jason Reitman, wrote a "beautiful, heartfelt script that takes the real DNA from the first two movies and transfers that directly to the third, the next generation. It hands the legacy off to a new generation of stars, and players, and actors, and characters," Aykroyd said.
Jason Reitman received criticism
Jason Reitman did get criticism after his sequel was announced because he said it will "hand the movie back to fans" which comes after the most recent Ghostbusters release being the female-led reboot starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. This did not sit will with those stars and fans of the reboot.
Other stars set to join the Ghostbusters 2020 cast are Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon and McKenna Grace. Ghostbusters 2020 is set for release on July 10, 2020.
