- 'Barbie' has been a huge success
- There could have been very different "Ken" actors
- Here's who they are and why they didn't make the cut
These men could have been "Ken" in the recent 'Barbie' film
The 'Barbie' cast almost looked very different! This is what casting directors Allison Jones and Lucy Bevan revealed to 'Vanity Fair'. In addition to Ryan Gosling as "Beach Ken", Bowen Yang Dan Levy and Ben Platt were in talks for the roles of additional "Kens".
The reason none of the three Hollywood stars made it into the movie in the end was because the filming took place during the pandemic. The actors therefore had to live in London for several months to film. However, Bowen Yang, Dan Levy and Ben Platt were in the United States at the time, which made a relocation to Europe impossible."They were, and this is not a joke, really depressed that they could not do it," says Allison Jones.
"Allan" actor Michael Cera also nearly had to give up his role to another actor. Broadway star Jonathan Groff was meant to play the role, but had to drop out because of the COVID pandemic as well.
