'Barbie' is also expected to surpass the $574 million brought in by 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' to become 2023's biggest domestic release, 'Variety' reports. Additionally, 'Barbie' could potentially dethrone 'Mario' ($1.35 billion) as the highest-grossing international movie of the year since it has already hit the $1.2 billion mark.

'Barbie' is the first film directed by a woman, Greta Gerwig, to reach $1 billion. It's also the fastest Warner Bros. film to reach $1 billion, doing so in just 17 days. 'Barbie' star Margot Robbie is expected to earn approximately $50 million due to the movie's success. Gerwig will likely receive hefty bonuses as well.
