• A terrible accident happened during Rust filming
  • 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins was killed
  • Rust producer thinks the film will be completed

There's hardly another film that has caused so much fuss before it was even completed. The tragedy surrounding the film Rust is still unbelievable. Filming on the western was abruptly interrupted in October when 42-year-old camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was killed on set by a weapon that was declared unloaded.

Rust producer hopeful to finish filming

The movie's leading actor Alec Baldwin had fired the pistol that also hit director Joel Souza with the bullet, but he survived injured. Rust producer Anjul Nigam has now expressed his hope that work on the film will not be called off for good despite the tragic accident. According to him, the filming could continue as soon as the police investigation is completed.

"Rust is obviously a horrific tragedy. The investigation will hopefully be resolved soon and unveil what happened," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "Obviously, there will be people out there who will have negative perspectives, but we're confident about continuing to make quality movies. We’re confident we’ll be able to complete the movie."

Baldwin and the film's producers have been charged with involuntary manslaughter by Hutchins' family. In court documents filed in March, Baldwin said he did not feel responsible for the cinematographer's death. The actor has also spoken out about the incident on camera, visibly emotional and distressed by the implication that he could have caused the fatal accident.
