John Lithgow played as "Dr Richard Solomon". Solomon is the High Commander of a highly trained alien unit, sent to Earth by their leader, "The Big Giant Head". John Lithgow achieved major fame in his role as "Dick Solomon," which paved the way for an Emmy award.

Over 20 years later one can see Lithgow has aged— but not badly. In fact, the actor is one of the few from the cast who's appearance has not changed as drastically as some of the other stars. Lithgow has starred in many films and TV series since the show with famous roles such as the voice of "Lord Farquaad" in Shrek alongside Mike Meyers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz.

Johnston played the role of "Sally Solomon" in 3rd Rock from the Sun. Prior to arrival on Earth, the "Solomons" had a contest to determine who would be which gender (their species makes no differentiation). "Sally," a highly trained, combined combat specialist/military tactician, became female. When she asked "Dick" why she had to be the woman, he replies with "Because you lost."

Time has left its mark on Kristen Johnston who has aged into a rather classy woman but looks very different to her younger self from the late 1990s. Since the show, Johnston has featured in many television series and films, but nothing that received the same exposure as 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was young when he played the role of "Tommy Solomon". "Tommy," although he was the oldest of the aliens, was given the body of a teenage boy. His duty during time on earth was to gather information on humans from TV shows and films.

Gordon-Levitt has aged since his time on the show, and although now 43, the star looks younger than he is. Gordon-Levitt has featured in an array of films and television shows since his time on '3rd Rock from the Sun', including 'Inception' (2010), 'The Dark Knight Rises' (2012), 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' (2017) and 'Snowden' (2016).

Stewart played the role of "Harry Solomon," who at the start of the show seems to be of little importance. After the discovery that he has a transmitter implanted in his brain (which, apparently, takes up half the space in his head) for the purposes of communication with the home planet, he takes the title of "Communications Officer".

French Stewart is another actor from the show who has aged nicely. With the exception of some expected wrinkles, the actor has preserved his youth reasonably well. Stewart is perhaps most famous for his role as one of the two burglars "Marv" in Home Alone 2: Taking The House Back (2002).

Curtin played the role of "Dr Mary Albright," serving as a love interest for "Dick Solomon". Curtin was chosen for the show for her strong comic presence and the actress became loved for her witty on-off relationship with "Dick Solomon" throughout the series.
3rd Rock from the Sun originally aired in 1996 and the show ran until 2001. The series features four extraterrestrials on an expedition to earth where they pose as a human family to examine the behaviour of human beings. But what does the famous cast of this beloved sitcom look like today?
