- Here's the reason she missed the red carpet
On 13 November 2024, King Charles III attended the glamorous premiere of 'Gladiator II' at Leicester Square in London. Originally, Queen Camilla was expected to accompany him but had to cancel her appearance due to a respiratory infection.
King Charles meets Hollywood
Despite his wife's absence, King Charles appeared in high spirits as he greeted the film's stars, including Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and director Ridley Scott. The event was organized by Paramount Pictures alongside the Film and TV Foundation, of which King Charles is a patron.
Dressed in an elegant black suit with a bow tie, the King seemed impressed by the film's cast. This premiere marked a highlight in the foundation’s calendar, which has received royal family support since 1946 and recently celebrated its centennial.

Queen Camilla’s health update
Queen Camilla, the 77-year-old wife of the King, is currently focused on her recovery. "I'm obviously getting much better, bit of sort of coughing going on. I really wanted to come... But hopefully, I’m on the mend now," she recently shared. Her absence from the premiere was a precautionary step to prioritize her health and ensure a full recovery.
Despite her illness, Camilla attended a separate event at Buckingham Palace earlier the same day. However, she had to cancel her appearances at the Remembrance Weekend events a few days prior—a difficult decision for her.
"following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk. Her Majesty will not attend this weekend's Remembrance events," Buckingham Palace announced.
