- The Queen's state funeral took place on September 19
- The total costs of it add up to this unbelievable sum
On September 19, thousands of people came together to say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II. There was a big splurge for the state funeral: flowers, parades, a long guest list, security, and much more.
This is primarily linked to the enormous safety precautions that go hand in hand with such a public event. This effort is not only logistically very complicated but also from a financial point of view.
Funeral of the Queen: Costs are high
An officially confirmed sum for the total costs is not known. The Economic Times estimates the total costs at around six billion pounds - the equivalent of around 6.83 billion USD. By way of comparison, the Queen Mother's funeral in 2012 cost around £5.4 million (around $6.2 million).
Also Interesting:
Princess Diana's funeral in 1997 cost about five million pounds. The cost is ultimately paid for by the British citizen. But the funeral is not the most expensive event. The organizational changes that are planned for the royal family and the British people will cost more.
