Queen Elizabeth II has been in lockdown at Windsor Castle since mid-March. And now it appears that she'll be staying there for the foreseeable future.
On May 10, The Sunday Times and Hello! reported that the Queen's current absence from public duties is likely to extend for at least several more months. In all, it will form the longest such break in her 68-year reign.

Queen Elizabeth II keeps busy in quarantine
While the Queen's life in lockdown has brought a halt to her public appearances, she's continued to communicate with world leaders, the royal family, and the British people via video calls and recorded messages.
In April, the Queen gave a rare address to the nation on the health crisis. Moreover, she delivered a speech to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day this past Friday, May 8.

The Queen's extended absence from public duties
The Queen has plans to visit South Africa in October 2020, but it's unclear at this time if they will proceed. Many of the Queen's usual summer activities are already cancelled, as is the routine of opening Buckingham Palace to the public over the summer.
Her Majesty celebrated her 94th birthday late last month at Windsor Castle, notably without the usual Trooping the Colour parade. She and Prince Philip will remain there, too, as a measure to guarantee their safety during the pandemic.
