There were plans for May 29, 2020, to be a special day for Princess Beatrice and the royal family.

Beatrice was to marry Edoardo Mapelli today, but the wedding's postponement was announced in April due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"They aren't even thinking about their wedding at this time," a spokesperson told People in April. "There will come a time to rearrange, but that's not yet."

Despite this appropriate recognition, Beatrice's mother, Sarah Ferguson, marked the wedding date's arrival with a special message for her daughter.

Ferguson's tribute appeared on Friday on her Instagram account. It features a photo of Beatrice as a young child.

"Love you my darling Beatrice," her message began. "You have given me more joy than I could ever wish for. I am so excited to celebrate yours and Edo’s love when we all are out of lockdown."

The message continued, sending kind thoughts and well wishes to all whose wedding plans were put on hold during the pandemic.

"The most important thing is health and love and today I send it to you and all the other people that were getting married during this time .. so proud of you all," she wrote.

Beatrice and Edoardo's wedding ceremony was to be held at St. James's Palace in London. The reception would've followed at Buckingham Palace.

Original plans for the wedding date were also affected by Prince Andrew's high-profile scandal, but it's thought that he will still walk her down the aisle when the wedding eventually takes place.

In the meantime, Beatrice is in lockdown with Edoardo at the home of her fiancé's mother, Nikki Shale.
