Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II is not often seen out and about these days, as the 96-year-old monarch struggles with mobility issues. Last month, it was decided that she would be scaling back her appearances at public events and could not be expected to attend like she used to. However, the royal was recently seen at a train station in London to commemorate a special event!

As the Daily Mail reports, the Queen showed up at Paddington Station on Tuesday, where a brand-new train line in her namesake was unveiled as the London Crossrail project was completed. She wore a bright yellow hat and coat and looked to be in great spirits. Check out our gallery to see more photos of Queen Elizabeth II's latest royal engagement!

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Edward both showed up at the station for the grand opening of the Elizabeth Line. But while Edward's appearance was expected, the Queen's presence came as a surprise, delighting public onlookers and looking radiant in yellow! As the Daily Mail mentions, the monarch's coat came from the brand Stewart Parvin, while her hat was designed by Rachel Trevor-Morgan.

The Queen had the chance to take part in a grand unveiling at Paddington Station! Had the royal been unable to attend, Prince Edward's name would have been featured on the plaque, which was present until an hour before her arrival. Since the line is named after her though, the Queen's attendance at this event is extra-special.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Edward

Queen Elizabeth II's mobility issues may have caused her to take her time getting around the station. But her appearance alongside Prince Edward was a welcome sight for royal fans, who were thrilled that the 96-year-old monarch was able to show up! Boris Johnson spoke on behalf of all those invited to attend the event, saying they were "incredibly touched and moved and grateful to her Majesty for coming to open the Elizabeth line today," and it was "fantastic" to see the Queen.
