- Princess Kate suffers from a pregnancy disorder
- She, like many other women, is lacking of a hormone
- Statistics say three in ten women suffer from this condition
MedlinePlus describes Hyperemesis gravidarum as an “extreme, persistent nausea, and vomiting during pregnancy. It can lead to dehydration, weight loss, and electrolyte imbalances."
Recent Development
Recent research has implicated GDF15, a hormone produced by the fetus, as responsible for pregnancy nausea and vomiting.
Professor Sir Stephen O’Rahilly of the University of Cambridge explained that the mother is “not used to” the hormone’s production levels, causing nausea.
