Tuesday evening Duchess Catherine (36) and Prince William (36) met the Dutch royal couple who are on a state visit to Great Britain. Duchess Catherine had dressed up especially for this event and wore some very special jewelry to match her amazing blue Alexander McQueen dress.
Lady Diana's favorite tiara
Duchess Catherine wore Princess Diana's (†) favorite tiara, also called the Lover's Knot tiara, and also a pair of her earrings. Catherine already wore the tiara on the day she got married to Prince William. The Queen had actually given the exquisite tiara to Diana as a gift on her wedding day in 1981. According to "E! News", this piece of jewelry went back into the possession of Queen Elizabeth II (92) after 'The Princess of Hearts' died in 1997.
The necklace that the Duchess combined with the tiara also belonged to another royal. As "People" magazine reports, Princess Alexandra (†), the great-grandmother of the Queen, was given the noble piece of jewelry for her wedding.
Actually, Catherine is not the only one to wear her mother-in-law's jewelry. Duchess Meghan (37) also honored Lady Diana when she put on her butterfly earrings in Australia.
