Princess Charlène regularly keeps royal fans up to date on her Instagram account.

Usually, she checks in every few months with sugar-sweet photos of her happy family. But now she is back with rather different pictures to draw attention to an important topic.

Princess Charlène on animal welfare, conservation

The new photo shows the princess together with a rhino whose horn has been removed. Princess Charlène kneels and rests her hands gently on the head of the animal, who wears a bandage.

A statement, "Thank you for not forgetting about us," titles the photo in red letters.

The picture of Charlène of Monaco is accompanied by meaningful hashtags: "Stop Rhino Poaching, Save the Rhino, Rhino Conversation," writes the princess.

The South African-born royal of Monaco has been committed to animal welfare for many years and is using her platform to bring attention to the subject.

Charlène, the wife of Prince Albert of Monaco, turned 43 earlier this year. Sadly, in March, she also mourned the loss of the South African monarch King Zwelithini of the Zulu nation, who was a friend to the princess.
