Princess Anne celebrated her 70th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 15!
To mark the occasion, the Royal Family shared three birthday pictures of the Princess Royal that were specially taken earlier this year. The photoshoot came at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, where Anne posed for two intimate portraits and another outdoor shot.
Princess Anne's new photos on her 70th birthday
In the first photo, Anne appears in an emerald green dress by designer Sue Palmer, while longtime royal photographer John Swannell receives photo credit.
The above portrait—and the nature shot that follows it—were shared on the Royal Family's social media pages late on Friday night. In the second photo, Anne is seen casually posing in the woods at Gatcombe Park. Though she is at her English country residence in the photos, she'll reportedly spend her 70th birthday in Scotland sailing with her husband, Tim Laurence.
And finally, in the third portrait, Anne flashes a smile while wearing a dress by the late Maureen Baker, noted as the designer of her 1973 wedding dress.
Princess Anne hits age 70 in style
The lead up to the now septuagenarian royal's birthday was a major cause for celebration. In the weeks prior to Aug. 15, the Queen honoured her daughter with a series of throwback posts on the Royal Family's Instagram page.
The royals also supported the making and release of an ITV documentary titled Anne: The Princess Royal at 70. The film explores the life of the Queen and Prince Philip's second eldest child and only daughter, who is famous for her devoted work ethic.
Happy birthday, Princess Anne!
