The misinformation was blown up to such an extent that the Swedish royal family was forced to react. They took a step that had never happened before — the couple made a statement on the breakup rumors.

The royal said, "Many friends from different parts of Sweden and also abroad got in touch, and it reached a level that made us feel that we cannot accept this."
