The Prince of Wales is the very next in line for the throne once his mother Queen Elizabeth II passes which hopefully won't be for quite some time. When he inherits the throne his name may not actually be King Charles III, here is what his name could be.
Prince Charles Name Upon Inheriting The Throne
Prince Charles's full name is Charles Philip Arthur George Mountbatten-Windsor and according to Dickie Arbiter, the former Buckingham Palace spokesperson, Charles could use another one of his names when he becomes King.
He could use the names Philip, Arthur, or George instead which has been done by many in his familial line. His grandfather's first name was Albert but once he became King he chose to go by King George VI, and King Edward VII also was originally Prince Albert.
His sister Anne even adjusted her title around the same time she discovered her husband Mark Phillips had fathered a child out of wedlock in New Zealand. She accepted being titled Princess Royal so she would no longer be referred to as The Princess Anne, Mrs. Mark Phillips.
The Prince of Wales will also become the Duke of Lancaster, Defender of the Faith, Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Head of the Commonwealth along with a few others.
