After much public speculation, at the moment, Prince Andrew faces a pre-trial conference in his sexual abuse case at a New York district court on Wednesday, as his legal team attempts to flip the script and defend the prince against the accusation of claimant Virginia Giuffre. As it stands, Andrew seems to have a lot to answer for.
Giuffre alleges that she was forced to perform sexual acts with Andrew. These claims have all been officially denied by Andrew and his attorneys are hoping the case is thrown out altogether. In fact, they filed for a motion to dismiss the case completely.
Prince Andrew Mounts New Defense in Sexual Assault Case
It seems like his legal team now seeks to switch the narrative and flip it upside down. In a court filing, Andrew's legal team alleges that Giuffre's claims are motivated by money. "Giuffre has initiated this baseless lawsuit against Prince Andrew to achieve another payday at his expense." In their initial lawsuit for the case, her attorneys said Andrew had inflicted "emotional distress" on Giuffre that was "severe and lasting."
For many legal experts that are following proceedings closely, this is by far the clearest sign yet that Andrew's lawyers are planning to go on the offensive as they battle to save the reputation of the Queen's third child.
