Some members of the Royal Family are often accused of not being bold enough with their simple, elegant and tailored clothing choices. But prominent royals like the late Princess Diana, Kate, Princess of Cambridge and even the Queen have worn some stunning outfits over the years, receiving a mixed response in the court of public opinion.

Princess Diana

From Princess Diana to Sarah Ferguson, everyone has gone through disastrous outfits either because of the patterns or because they don't look flattering at all in the cut. (Because let's be honest, 80's fashion wasn't easy for anyone, including the royals). And the younger generation hasn't been immune to these mistakes either, not even Kate Middleton and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

The marriage of the second in line to the British throne is to be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury and will be attended by 1900 guests, including foreign Royal family members and heads of state. Princess Beatrice

This is how Princess Beatrice of York looked at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011. Beatrice wore an all-pink ensemble, complete with an "o" shaped ribbon headpiece at the wedding of her cousin, Prince William, in 2011. Beatrice's headpiece generated controversy, but she took the criticism in stride and auctioned it off to raise a large amount of money for charitable causes.

Megan Markle

Most of Meghan Markle's maternity style was absolutely spot on, but this outfit stands out as one of her worst, pregnant or not. We can definitely see the elegant look the Duchess of Sussex was trying to achieve here, but it didn't really work.

Princess Diana

Princess Diana presented arguably the most iconic royal wedding dress of all time in 1981, and with its puffed sleeves and wide skirts, it was very different from the traditional elegant wedding gowns worn by previous royal brides. Nothing like Diana's dress has been seen on a royal bride since, but many feel that the fairytale design of David and Elizabeth Emanuel's gown is not exactly remembered with grace.

Princess Eugenie

Let's just say that Princess Eugenie's outfits back then were un... flattering at the time. This dress she wore in 2017 has a lot going on, between the design, the color palette and the pattern itself. It's a bold choice, no doubt but it doesn't flatter her figure at all.

Megan Markle

Another one of Meghan's least favorite looks is this green dress she wore to the Invictus Games in 2018. It's not the color, it's the dress itself. Unfortunately, the garment is not cut in a flattering way for her, and is rather boring. If it hadn't been so shapeless, it would have worked much better.

Princess Beatrice

This choice of Princess Beatrice was not only strange because of the bad color combination... but also because some might consider it too daring and revealing.

Princess Eugenie

Princess Eugenie's black dress was unimpressive, it seems to have been chosen at the last minute, and her dowdy and ungraceful appearance makes her look like an ordinary person. So what's the joke of being a royal?

Queen Elizabeth II

The queen could never be missing from any fashion list of any kind. Elizabeth II, who never wore the same outfit twice and was rarely seen wearing the same color. She was always extravagant and unafraid to experiment with her wardrobe.

Royals, despite their vast resources and access to image consultants, can sometimes miss the mark when it comes to their attire.

Outfits That Royals Would Probably Never Wear Again

While the royal family typically enjoys the guidance of seasoned stylists, there have been moments when their daring fashion selections have garnered less than favorable reviews.

Here's a glimpse of some of the most audacious royal outfits that are unlikely to make a return after facing public criticism.
