- THIS is Charles' new job
Anyone who thinks that the royals just lie around all day is mistaken. The members of the British royal family have plenty to do, as they are currently patrons of over 1,000 organizations.
However, this number is now to be reduced - and King Charles is taking on a task that previously fell to Duchess Meghan.
King Charles: This is how many patronages he takes on
On Saturday, Buckingham Palace announced that the more than 1,000 patronages of the British royals have been reviewed. From now on, however, only around 800 charitable organizations will be supported by the royal family.
"The King and Queen [Camilla] will continue to serve as patron to many of the charities and institutions with which His Majesty was affiliated as Prince of Wales, and respectively Her Majesty as Duchess of Cornwall," reads the official announcement. Charles is also taking over the patronage of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II (†96).

King Charles also takes over the patronage of Duchess Meghan. From now on, he will be in charge of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), which campaigns for important issues relating to higher education. As reported by the 'Daily Mail', Meghan was entrusted with this task before she and her husband Prince Harry (39) emigrated to the USA.
According to 'Sky News', Charles now has 669 patronages (previously 441) and Queen Camilla has 115 (previously 100). However, Charles is also supported by other members of the royal family.
