Meghan Markle will headline the speaking line-up for an upcoming event focused on gender equality.
The Duchess was confirmed today as a special guest for the virtual 2020 Girl Up Leadership Summit. She will participate as a speaker for the July 13-15 event, which is described as: "A three-day virtual Summit bringing together movers and changemakers from around the globe committed to gender equality presented by P&G."

"The present is female!" Girl Up wrote on Twitter. "But don't take our word for it. Hear Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex's advice for global girls leaders when she takes the stage at the 2020 @GirlUp Leadership Summit, happening virtually July 13-15!"

In addition to the Duchess, former First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to deliver a special message at the summit. Priyanka Chopra and Jameela Jamil are among the celebrity guest speakers, while academics, feminist activists, artists, businesswomen, and a Nobel Peace Laureate complete the group that will deliver the 2020 schedule of workshops, Q-&-A sessions, and speeches.
Girl Up offers registration for the virtual event through their website and Eventbrite.

Duchess Meghan signs on for new speaking engagement
Girl Up was founded by the UN Foundation in 2010. The initiative's 2020 summit will be its ninth edition of the annual event, which began in 2012.
"Girl Up's leadership development programs have impacted 65,000 girls through 3,500 Clubs in nearly 120 countries and all 50 U.S. states. We're inspiring a generation of girls to be a force for gender equality and social change," the initiative's website says, describing itself as a global movement.
Meghan will speak on one of the summit's first two days (July 13-14) during the special guest section. The announcement also comes two weeks after it was revealed that she and Prince Harry had joined the Harry Walker Agency to manage paid speaking engagements — and 2020 Girl Up summit participant Michelle Obama is another client of the agency.
