Meghan looked simply divine at London's Royal Albert Hall on Monday evening. The event, which was sponsored by Swarovski, is held annually and Meghan was there to present the sought-after British Women's Wear Designer of The Year Award to Clare Waight Keller, the woman behind Meghan's gorgeous wedding gown.
The crowd goes wild
The crowd reportedly went wild as the Duchess of Sussex handed over the award to Clare, who is artistic director at Givenchy. Fittingly, Meghan was wearing a one-shouldered black Givenchy gown. She accessorised the sleek dress with Tamara Mellon gold sandals, simple gold earrings, Pippa Small gold bangles and a tight bun. Meghan also decided to wear black nail varnish, meaning that she once again broke royal style protocol, as both the Queen and Kate Middleton always stick to sheer shades. Although, she looked so stunning we can't say we care!
Meghan addressed the delighted crowd saying, "It’s so nice to see so many familiar faces, many of you I’ve known for quite a while and there’s been a lot of you I’ve been able to meet in the last year".
Nothing but praise for the Duchess
The moment must have been unimaginably special for Clare Waight Keller and she had nothing but praise for Meghan. "This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level, and to have someone like that trust you in an incredible moment in their life is something that is just the most unbelievable honour and I can’t thank you enough".
Clare Waight Keller posted a delightful snapshot of herself and Duchess Meghan up on stage on Instagram, captioning it: "The ultimate surprise - the very special moment that I discovered #meghanmarkle #duchessofsussex was going to give me the award for Womenswear Designer of the Year. Such an extraordinary moment of emotion and love for this amazing woman who changed my life thank you @givenchyofficial."
