On Remembrance Sunday, members of the British royal family gathered to honour fallen soldiers. A touching moment occurred on the balcony of the Foreign Office, where Princess Kate (42) and Duchess Sophie (59) stood side by side.
Lip reader Jacqui Press shared with 'The Daily Mail' that Kate sought comfort from Sophie, who offered sympathetic and reassuring words.
Duchess Sophie Offers Support to Princess Kate
The media’s attention was drawn to the moment when the camera focused on Kate and Sophie on the balcony. Kate turned to Sophie, saying, “You're never quite ready for this...”
Sophie appeared to empathize with Kate's overwhelmed feelings, responding, “Yes, absolutely.” She then comforted Kate further, reportedly adding, “Better now.”
As they left the balcony, Sophie continued her support with a touching gesture, placing a hand on Kate’s back. Body language expert Judi James told 'The Daily Mail': “That simple hand gesture showed Sophie’s dual role today. She is always the royal who brings a sense of calm and support to some of the most emotionally-charged royal occasions.”
During the ceremony, King Charles (75) laid the first wreath at the war memorial, followed by other royal family members. Kate and Sophie observed from their place on the balcony. Although Queen Camilla (77) was absent due to recovering from an infection, the royal family remained united and supportive.
