• Lady Louise celebrates her birthday
  • The young royal turns 21 today
  • She could play a key role with the royals

Lady Louise Windsor, the daughter of the Duke of Edinburgh (60) and Duchess Sophie (59), celebrates her 21st birthday today. Currently studying English at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, many royal observers are speculating about her potential future role within the British monarchy.

Lady Louise Windsor could play an important role with the royals

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has suggested to the British 'Express' that Lady Louise, like her cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, could take on an active role within the royal household.

In recent years, the British monarchy has aimed to streamline its structure, but this has resulted in fewer members available to fulfill royal duties, leading to a sense of "overload" within the family.

Fitzwilliams told 'Express': "There will be a considerable amount of interest in Lady Louise Windsor as it is possible that she might play a role, even a peripheral role, in the activities of the royal family after she leaves the University of St Andrews where she is studying English."

Lady Louise has already made public appearances, including participating in carriage-driving events in Windsor and Norfolk. She shares this passion with her grandfather, the late Prince Philip, who was an avid carriage driver and encouraged her to pursue the sport.

Despite not holding a royal title, her commitment to carriage driving and her deep connection to the royal family could pave the way for a significant role in the monarchy’s future.
