• King Charles was coronated in May
  • He unfortunately didn't see much
  • THIS is what Charles felt he missed having

The coronation of King Charles III is still a major talking point in many circles. King Charles and recently Queen Camilla hosted a reception for personnel involved in the planning of Queen Elizabeth's funeral and the King's Coronation at Buckingham Palace. Naturally, the new monarch was part of the conversation. Speaking on the occasion, the king revealed his biggest regret about his Coronation weekend. The monarch said it was being difficult to see the performers at the Windsor Castle concert as they were too far away.

He said that he wished he had been sitting closer or had taken his binoculars!

King Charles didn't see much

After the ceremony the whole world saw at Westminster Abbey on May 6, a concert was staged the day after in the grounds of Windsor Castle with performances from an array of stars. During the concert, the King and Queen were seated alongside other members of the Royal Family and VIP guests in the Royal Box.

It was all arranged to have him sitting within a tiered stand towards the back of the concert site. Apparently the view wasn't very good for Charles. But the King appeared to be delighted when attending the event. The King and Queen invited representatives from across government, the Church of England, creative arts, volunteers and policing involved in the historic day to the Palace yesterday.

Neil Walter, who was in charge of parking for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, said the King told him how he was seated so far from the concert stage he could not see what was happening on there. The official added: "He said next time he would like to be closer, or bring his binoculars."

There's no doubt King Charles would have had a pair of binoculars handy. He's been seen using them at horse racing events like Royal Ascot, and with his keen interest in the environment, he likely uses them to spot wildlife. And it looks very fashionable as the monarch looks down on his subjects.

Charles' eyes needed a boost

But despite his trouble viewing the stage, the King appeared to be delighted when attending the event. He was seen waving a Union Jack as the various singers performed. As it that weren't enough spectacle, opera legend Andrea Bocelli performed 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as a duet with Bryn Terfel. According to 'People' magazine, the royal couple requested he sing that song specially for them.

Also interesting:

"The King and the Queen Consort have demonstrated their appreciation of art and good music, which are gifts from the heavens, and that, as they lift the spirit, contribute to spreading good. This is per se already a reason for all of us to be excited," Bocelli said.

"As for my performance, they have indeed specifically requested a song that is very dear to me as well: 'You'll Never Walk Alone,' a touching, intense and evocative score, a true tribute to solidarity." The Coronation was no doubt the royal event of the season, even if the monarch couldn't see very much of it. Since then, he and Camilla have been very active as the reigning king and queen of Britain.

This week, they attended a dinner at Mansion House to recognize the work of the City of London's civic institutions and Livery Companies. And their schedule until the holiday season looks to be full up. Hopefully, they won't be attending any events were the king is seated too far away.

If they do, let's hope he'll have his binoculars!
