- Princess Anne is having her special day!
- Charles has congratulated her on her birthday
- THIS is what he had to say
Outside of all the known drama and tabloid fodder, there is also real sibling love among the British royals. Today marks Princess Anne's 73rd birthday and her older brother King Charles III (74) wished her a happy birthday with a heartwarming message on his social media. His touching tribute really made royal family fans smile!
King Charles is Princess Anne's greatest support
The official Instagram account of the British royal family wished Princess Anne a very happy birthday on behalf of her older brother, the reigning monarch, King Charles III. This is what it said: "Wishing Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal a very Happy Birthday today!"
The photo that was posted along with the caption was taken on the day of Charles' coronation on May 6, 2023. Both siblings can be seen smiling in the picture. It's a nice turn of pace, because it shows a very intimate and family moment of the two siblings that are otherwise very regal and reserved. The second picture in the series shows Charles and Anne together all the way back in 1951. Charles is lovingly holding his sister's little hand. When the photo was taken, Anne was just one year old. How royally cute!
Princess Anne was born in 1950, and is the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. She is the second eldest child after King Charles and is currently 17th in line to the British throne.
Also interesting:
For years, Anne has been a great support to the royal family and the reigning monarch. And that especially applies now that her brother is the British king. She is also standing right next to Charles III and his family in the official coronation portrait.
The 'Daily Mail', one of Britain's foremost authorities on all things royal wrote this about her importance in Charles' life: "It shows how much he values her and how much he will rely on her. She is very popular and has a high reputation." In fact, next to his mother, the late Queen, Anne is said to be a mainstay in his life. And his personal birthday greeting to his little sister shows how much she means to Charles.
With an ever-growing criticism of the monarchy rising in Great Britain, Charles will certainly need Anne's support as time goes on.
