King Charles III (76) put his beer-tapping skills to the test at the Tower Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, on Monday. The monarch visited the family-run brewery and tapped himself a pint of the in-house beer "Gone for Burton". Photos show the King in high spirits as he works the tap.

The brewery owner then invited King Charles to try a sip asking if he was "going to have a slurp of that" - Charles joked that if he didn't he would be "in the wrong place". He raised his glass and with a hearty toast: "to your very good health".
The King proved to be not only a skilled beer tapper but also a humorous guest. He joked that he could share the rest of the beer with the press in attendance.

But the visit was not limited to beer. Brewery owner John Mills suggested that the King should try a special spirit that serves as the basis for whisky. Charles, a well-known whisky lover, accepted the invitation and commented with satisfaction: "Mmmm.. Interesting," he said, with a laugh, adding: "Yes, it’s supercharged."
