The royal couple had just visited various stands when their security team asked them to cut short their visit, according to the 'Express.' They were quickly taken to the Pomme D'Or Hotel, where a tea party was planned for later in the day. Despite the urgency, King Charles briefly stopped to shake hands before being redirected by his security team.
After a short break at the hotel, they continued with their planned activities. Buckingham Palace has not commented on the cause of the alarm.
Eamon Fenlon, one of the traders at the market, explained according to the 'Express,' "Some of the other people told me it was a drone but whether that's official or not I don't know."
Matt Taylor, founder of Jersey Sea Salt, was speaking to the king when he was asked to leave immediately by his security guard. "He didn't seem panicked but he was quite stern. They just ushered him out."
Fortunately, there seemed to be no threat to the royal couple, as the rest of the visit went off without incident.
