For members of the Royal Family, rising hemlines are not a laughing matter as they must look prim and proper at all times.
Avoiding the fly up
As etiquette expert Myka Meier rvealed in an interview with The Sun, static is a duchess's best friend. Kate and Meghan often "wear body suits and clothes that actually increase static so it’s much harder for something to fly up". If you do not use weights or heavy weighted material, you make sure it will not fly up by wearing undergarments that keep the fabrics connected to your body".
Sometimes these static-creating body suits are not enough though, as Duchess Catherine found out in 2011, when her skirt flew up on an airfield in Calgary, Canada.
When the wind picks up heavy fabrics are called for and the Queen has even been known to have wieghts sewn into the hems of her skirts and dresses to keep the fabric from flying up, according to the Daily Mail.
