Duchess Kate Helps Create A New Garden For Hospice & Talks Family Life During The Lockdown

As part of National Children's Hospice Week, the Duchess of Cambridge helped plant a new patio garden at a children's hospice near Norwich last week. And she looked amazing doing it!

Duchess Kate spent some time near Norwich last week where she helped plant a new garden at The Nook, a children's hospice in need of a gardening update for the patio area. After visiting a garden center earlier last week, Kate was ready to get started and wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty either while wearing a stunning Marie-Louise floral dress by Faithfull the Brand.

The Duchess was chatty and just seemed to be in a great mood as she crouched down and potted rosemary and lavender - she even made a "big mess" while trying to re-pot a large sunflower.

Duchess Kate talks about her kids at children's hospice

She joined the Pope-Saunders family and planted more sunflowers and they got to talking about family life during the COVID-19 lockdown. Kate even shared some details about Prince George and Prince Louis gardening at Anmer Hall, their Norfolk estate.

"The children are really enjoying growing their sunflowers," she said to the Pope-Saunders family. "Louis's is winning so George is a little grumpy about that!"

As the patron of the East Anglia Children's Hospices, the Duchess wanted to create a new space outside the hospice's dining room to provide some enjoyment for the children and their families. She was visibly moved by the story of six-year-old Sonny Pope-Saunders, who was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in February.

According to Hello!, his mother Kelly Pope-Saunders later said about spending some time with Duchess Kate: "It was so nice to see her – and in such a lovely dress too – getting stuck in. She's so down to earth, the kids really loved doing the gardening and planting with her."
