The Duchess of Cambridge (37) looked gorgeous in a pink Gucci gown, giving us all the (pre)Valentine's Day fashion feels, on Wednesday evening. As patron of 100 Women in Finance's Philanthropic Initiatives, she attended a special gala dinner at the V&A Museum, of which Kate is also patron! She wore her hair in loose, bouncy waves and accessorised her Gucci number with drop earrings, sparkly silver heels and a velvet clutch.
Kate was the guest of honour
The dinner was held in aid of "Mentally Healthy Schools" and Kate was the guest of honour. She attended a private reception before making a short speech just before dinner, which was served to three hundred guests in the museum’s beautiful Raphael Gallery.
Duchess Kate began her speech by saying, "I think you know just how passionate I am about the work that you do, but what you've said here tonight really brings to light the vital roles that schools and teachers play in supporting our youngest children". Before continuing, "I have often been asked why I have decided to focus my work on the early years. Having been lucky enough to meet some of our country’s amazing charities. I became acutely aware of just how important the earliest years of our lives really are".
"The root cause of some of our most challenging experiences in adulthood, such as poor mental and physical health, addiction, homelessness, crime and family breakdown, can so often be traced back to the very earliest years of someone’s life and often over generations. We therefore need to look at the prevention of some of these issues."
Kate ended her speech by expressing her gratitude for the help given by all those present at the dinner. "I just wanted to say thank you, for this wonderful evening and for all of your support over the years, I can’t tell you what a difference it makes."
Just like her husband, Prince William (36), who only recently talked very openly about his mental health problems, Kate is an avid supporter of mental health campaigns and attended the Mental Health in Education conference before arriving at the V&A Museum. The organisation supports various charities, and since 2011 Duchess Catherine has attended events to raise funds for Child Bereavement UK, Action on Addiction and The Art Room.
