The Duchess of Cambridge's (36) mother has given her first interview in over thirteen years. In an exclusive with The Telegraph, Carole Middleton (63), whose motto so far has been "over the years, it’s proved wise not to say anything", has opened up about her family and business.
A Fierce Businesswoman
Most people have a vague idea of who Carole Middleton is, she's Kate's mother, is known for sporting snazzy outfits at Wimbledon and worked as an air stewardess for British Airways. She's also a fierce businesswoman in her own right, she founded Party Pieces in 1987, the same year her son was born. The business is a very successful one and was going strong, long before Kate and William started seeing each other.
Both her daughters, Kate and Pippa, have worked for the family business, but Carole also revealed that "they did a lot of modelling. Catherine was on the cover of one of the catalogues, blowing out candles. Later on, she did some styling and set up the First Birthday side of the business. Pippa did the blog. I still value their ideas and opinions."
While Kate's mum didn't reveal any juicy details about her daughter's life in the interview, they are clearly very close, with the Duchess of Cambridge texting her mum to wish her good luck during the interview. All in all, it's safe to say that Kate's mum sounds delightful, she's a Chistmas fanatic, loves a good party, adores cooking and has five dogs, four spaniels and one golden retriever! As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and we can see where Kate got her work ethic, warmth and sociable nature!
