Prince William and Duchess Catherine hosted a party for military personnel this Tuesday at Kensington Palace. Kate looked stunning in a beautiful red plaid skirt by Emilia Wickstead, long suede black boots and a black cashmere cardigan as she strolled through fake snow being whirled into the air with Prince William by her side. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge want to show their support for deployed military personnel throughout the world, especially as many will be away from their families at Christmas.
Kate and William met families from the Royal Air Force bases Coningsby and Marham during the festive party, which boasted stocking decoration and snow globe decoration stands, for children to have a go at making their own Christmas decor. Kate definitely knows how to throw a party, not surprisingly given she worked for her parents' party favours business for a number of years, and there was also a photo booth and post box so that families could take pictures and then post them on the spot to their nearest and dearest in Cyprus.
Kate Speaking From Experience
Kate gave a beautiful speech at the gathering, confessing to the 200 wives, girlfriends, parents and grandparents present that she could not begin to imagine what it must be like to not be together as a family for Christmas. Prince William served in the Falklands for six weeks in 2012 and Kate emphasised with guests saying, "I know how hard it feels when a loved one leaves home to do the job they trained for", however she went on to add,"but I can't imagine how it feels when your loved ones are away on active service over Christmas...".
The good news is, this is only the first party the Cambridges are hosting for the families and children of RAF personnel stationed abroad and we can't wait to see even more festive photos!
