Prince Andrew keeps out of the public eye these days, but he had a rare encounter with a member of the public over the weekend.
As he often does, the 61-year-old drove to Windsor on Friday to go horseback riding. But, on the drive there, his vehicle crossed paths with a woman who recognized him and confronted the car.
Woman attacks Prince Andrew in his car
The disgraced royal was behind the wheel as the woman rushed his Range Rover. She smashed on his window and apparently yelled at him: "Andrew! Andrew!" The moment happened to be captured by photographers.
During the shocking moment, Prince Andrew appeared concerned and glanced in the woman's direction and away from her. Afterward, the woman was arrested.
According to Express, police said the woman is 50 years old, homeless, and was arrested on "suspicion of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress."
The woman has since been released on bail. Prince Andrew himself remains in the midst of legal trouble as well.
His lawyers are fighting a sexual assault lawsuit filed in August by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking ring. She accuses the royal of sexually assaulting her when she was underage.
Prince Andrew has largely been out of the spotlight since the Epstein scandal forced him to give up his royal duties in early 2020. He still lives at Royal Lodge and is known to spend his days riding in Windsor.
He reportedly still wants to return as a working royal if he escapes the sexual assault lawsuit. But, if the car attack is any indication, the public may not be so welcoming to a Prince Andrew comeback.
