Charlene of Monaco has been in the public eye since her relationship with Prince Albert II of Monaco. But before her marriage, Charlene led a very different life and was by no means an unknown personality. Charlene was a professional swimmer. How did she look back then? Charlene of Monaco used to be a professional swimmer
In 1996, Charlene won her first major competition: the South African Swimming Championship. In 1999, she celebrated two more important victories in the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle at the All Africa Games. A year later she was at the Olympics for the first time. Unfortunately, she had to cancel her participation in the 2008 Summer Olympics due to injury.

That was also the point when Charlene decided to end her swimming career. But her spectacular swimmer's figure remains until this day. However, the Princess of Monaco doesn't show off her well-toned back and muscular arms in a swimsuit near a pool anymore, instead we see her wearing elegant gowns and evening dresses at public events.
