Charlene of Monaco has been in the public eye since her relationship with Prince Albert II of Monaco. In 1996, Charlene won her first major competition: the South African Swimming Championship. In 1999, she celebrated two more important victories in the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle at the All Africa Games. A year later she was at the Olympics for the first time. Unfortunately, she had to cancel her participation in the 2008 Summer Olympics due to injury.

That was also the point when Charlene decided to end her swimming career.
