Buckingham Palace released a statement announcing that the iconic Changing of the Guard ceremony will be postponed until further notice amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The news come after Queen Elizabeth moved to Windsor Castle, where she reunited with Prince Philip for Easter break. Her Majesty's Easter plans began one week in advance.
The ceremony usually takes place outside Buckingham Palace at 11 am
"In line with Government advice to avoid mass gatherings, it has been agreed that the ceremonial of the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace and Windsor Castle will be postponed until further notice. Advice will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, with a view to restarting when appropriate," read the statement.

The Changing of the Guard ceremony usually takes place outside Buckingham Palace at 11 am every day on Summer, and four days a week otherwise, as well as in Windsor Castle certain days. The ceremony, where the New Guard relieves the Old Guard, ensuring that the British Monarchy is continuously protected, is considered one of Britain's iconic touristic highlights; dozens of people gather every day to witness the moment.
