In March 2018, Nicollette Sheridan, known for her portrayal of fan-favorite "Edie Britt" on 'Desperate Housewives', she opened up about the drama surrounding her departure from the show after Season 5. She asserted that creator Marc Cherry killed off her character following her complaint about a physical altercation between them.
"I was the victim of assault and battery on the set of Desperate Housewives by the creator of the show, my boss," Sheridan revealed to 'Entertainment Weekly'.
During a break from her professional commitments, Sheridan dedicated time to writing and producing personal projects in collaboration with 'Hallmark'. The prospect of returning to series television only crossed her mind when 'The CW' presented her with the opportunity to portray the iconic matriarch "Alexis Carrington" in 'Dynasty'.

On October 3, 2023, it was revealed that Sheridan would be part of the cast in the 'Lifetime' film titled 'Ladies of the '80s: A Divas Christmas,' alongside Linda Gray and Morgan Fairchild. The film is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, December 2, at 8 p.m. ET on 'Lifetime'.
